Umi Marcano is Synergy TV's second Soca Star winner joining the rank of the first Soca Star winner, Rohan 'Fireball' Richards. The Synergy Soca Star finals took place on the open grounds of the Jean Pierre Complex on Thursday 1st February, 2007. The crowd at the Complex was phenomenal, numbering possibly over ten thousand - so much so that many patrons spilled outside the gates.
The contestants did their best to please the audience and to gain the judges approval. Some of them in their performances were able to rock the entire crowd with their music. The dynamic duo, Ron Williams and Dayton of 'AZ One', were one such team that had the winning formula and were able to land the third place position in the competition.
Another performer who had the crowd on their feet was Keegan Taylor who came in a close second to Umi Marcano. Taylor has a huge following and many of his fans openly expressed their disappointment that he failed to attain top position.
The other Synergy TV Soca Star finalists included Kendall 'K9' Prince, Khalifar Manning, Tammy Coelho, Deylon Reid and Marcus 'Blaze' Chan Tack.
The celebrity judges of the competition were Carol Jacobs, Paul Richards, Carl 'Beaver' Henderson and Allison Hinds, who had the difficult task of selecting among the bunch of nine.
Synergy's new Soca Star, Umi Marcano, walked away with a 2007 Daihatsu Terios, a recording deal with Mastamind Productions, automatic entry into the International Soca Monarch Competition and a video recording session for one of his songs.
